Martin's First Easter

First of all, what a difference a year makes!



We had a wonderful Easter weekend. We started out in Fairfax. I had to go against my instincts and wake Martin up for the sunrise service. Thankfully he didn't seem to mind too much and was relatively good in church. After church we all enjoyed the wonderful Easter breakfast that the St John's ladies prepared. After breakfast we headed back to Grandma and Grandpa's house to do the Easter egg hunt. Martin found his basket right away and even found an egg or two. Martin had a fun morning playing with his cousins (Rylee, Olivia, and Claire). In fact, he was so impressed with Claire's walking that he decided to try it for himself and took four unassisted steps. It will still be awhile before he is steady on his feet though.
After a wonderful lunch and some more play time, we headed to Grandma and Grandpa Paulsen's house for the second half of our Easter celebration. Once again, Martin spotted his Easter basket (well it was really more of a bucket) right away and found a few more eggs. He got to play with more cousins, and had a chance to get to know his newest cousin a little better. He was actually not in the best of moods...too much Easter I guess. Aunt Julie was still able to get some pretty good giggles out of him though. I wish he would have been more open to socializing with his aunts and uncles, but deep down it is a pretty neat feeling when your child shows such a strong desire to be near you.
