Life with Maddy

So Maddy is almost three weeks old already (which makes me sad because it means my maternity leave is already half over.) Things are settling down around here, as we continue to adjust to life with a baby in the house. The big kids are still very much in love with their little sister. They are starting to be a little more naughty in an effort to get attention, but that is to be expected. Dave has gone back to work and so far I am surviving by myself during the day.

Aside from her evening crabby time, Maddy is turning out to be a pretty content baby, although she does expect to be held most of the time. While Libby was already sleeping through the night at this age, Maddy is still getting me up at least once and sometimes twice a night. It is a good thing that Libby is such a good girl and I can trust her to stay out of trouble while I sneak a nap in during the day.

Maddy was baptized on the 27th. Like Martin and Libby, she was baptized by her Grandpa Woller. It was certainly a day that we will remember, for more than one reason. First of all, when we got up in front of church to do the baptism we discovered that there was no water in the baptismal font. After a slightly awkward wait for the usher to bring in some water, the rest of the baptism went smoothly. We were very grateful to have so many family members able to join us for the baptism even though the weather was less than ideal. We had freezing rain fall for most of the morning making the roads quite treacherous. Thankfully, everyone who came made it home safely.

Maddy’s first tub bath was closely supervised by big sister.

Libby always makes sure that Maddy has a stuffed animal to hold.

This may be my favorite picture yet. Maddy was fussing, so Martin got his chair and sat next to her and kept bouncing her so she would stop crying.
