Yesterday we had another spur-of-the-moment trip to Rice Lake state park for a picnic. We didn't decide to go until about 5:00 and by the time we got everything packed up and ran to the store to buy charcoal we didn't end up getting to the park until after six. The kids didn't seem to notice how late supper was though. Libby had a blast playing on the slide and Martin kept himself busy picking up sticks to put in the fire. We ended up eating our supper as the sun was setting over the lake. It was beautiful, but really cold. So we quickly made use of all the sticks Martin collected and got a camp fire going. We had a wonderful time sitting around the fire cooking smores, singing songs, and snuggling to stay warm. But my favorite part of the night was watching Libby as she tried to warm her hands by the fire. Adorable!
